GroGro ("we", "our", or "the app") is a GPS-based farm surveying app for regenerative agriculture. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
Information we collect
- Account information: When you sign in with Google or email/password, we receive your Firebase Authentication user ID and basic profile information (such as email and display name) from your sign-in provider.
- Location data: With your permission, GroGro accesses your device GPS to show your position on the map and to record coordinates for plants, clusters, and zones you create.
- Farm data you enter: Plant records, species, photos, notes, cluster templates, zones, and related metadata you choose to save in the app.
- Photos: If you attach photos to plants or other records, those images are stored on your device and may be uploaded to cloud storage when sync is enabled.
How we use information
- Provide core app features: mapping, GPS logging, offline storage, and optional cloud backup/sync across your devices.
- Authenticate you and associate your farm data with your account.
- Enable optional farm sharing when you generate or redeem a share code.
- Display maps using Mapbox (map tiles and related services).
Where data is stored
- On your device: Farm data is stored locally in a SQLite database so you can work offline.
- Cloud (optional): When signed in and online, data may sync to Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Storage) under project grogroapp.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.
Third-party services
- Google Firebase: Authentication, database, and file storage for cloud sync.
- Google Sign-In: Optional sign-in method.
- Mapbox: Map display and outdoor map tiles.
These providers process data according to their own privacy policies.
Data sharing
Your farm data is private by default. It is shared only when you choose to:
- Enable cloud sync (stored under your account in Firebase), or
- Invite others using a one-time share code you generate as farm owner.
Data retention and deletion
Local data remains on your device until you uninstall the app or delete records in the app. Cloud data remains in Firebase while your account and farms exist. To request deletion of your account and associated cloud data, see our account deletion page.
Your choices
- You can deny location or camera permissions; some features will not work without them.
- You can use the app offline without signing in, though cloud backup and multi-device sync require an account.
- You can sign out at any time from the app.
Children
GroGro is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top will reflect the latest version.
